CENTRAL FALLS – Police are investigating a shooting at the intersection of Fuller and Garfield Avenues.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired and found an adult male with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a Rhode Island hospital and is being treated for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, said police.
Investigators say they have found no information so far indicating an ongoing threat to the community. Officers secured the scene, conducted a thorough search of the area, and continue to follow up on all investigative leads. Residents can expect an increased police presence in the neighborhood as detectives continue their work.
“The Central Falls Police Department would like to thank our law enforcement partners from the Pawtucket Police Department and the Rhode Island State Police for their immediate assistance in securing the scene and helping ensure the safety of residents during the initial response,” state police.
Officers secured the area and checked a nearby residence after receiving information from individuals at the scene that a possible suspect had fled there. That information was determined to be unfounded. Detectives remain actively engaged in the investigation and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that may help investigators is encouraged to call the Central Falls Police Department at 401-727-7411. Even seemingly minor details may be valuable to the investigation, according to officers.
