We all want to be part of something bigger than ourselves, and local news is one of those causes that should bring us all together. News for where we live is critical to the strengthening of our communities and our enjoyment of them.

Too much of our news ecosystem is being taken over by corporate and political interests, or companies that have lost their way and embraced gimmicks to keep afloat. In their meetings, they dismiss the intelligence of readers and claim that people will put up with anything.

Independent sources run by people in our communities, not out-of-town greedy corporate types, are critically important to our shared future. They will save local news.

The Local Insider, centered in the northern Rhode Island area and found at thelocalinsidernews.com, is designed as a forum that adds value, both for news and advertising.
