SMITHFIELD – Kathy Gaidimas has declared her candidacy for the Smithfield Town Council in November’s election.

Gaidimas, a resident of Smithfield for 26 years, said she is honored to have recently received the endorsement of the Smithfield Republican Town Committee.

“When my husband, son, and I were searching for a place to build our home, we came to Smithfield and immediately knew it was the right choice,” she said in a release. “We built our home on Stillwater Road, surrounded by farms, historic charm, and scenic trails, yet still close to everything we need. That unique balance is what makes Smithfield so special, and it inspires my commitment to preserving it for future generations.”

Gaidimas said she brings more than 30 years of experience in human resources to her campaign. She began her career as a recruiter before owning and operating her own agency. She later served in leadership roles with several major organizations, where she managed multiple districts and trained leaders in effective management and accountability.

Throughout her career, Gaidimas says she has focused on building strong teams, solving complex problems, and delivering results. She said she is eager to bring that experience to the Town Council and work collaboratively to ensure Smithfield remains the community she chose to call home.

Her priorities, she stated, include preserving open space, protecting natural resources, and maintaining Smithfield’s historic character and unique qualities.

Gaidimas said she is committed to listening to residents, learning from the community and her colleagues, and supporting good government initiatives that result in increased public input into Town Council decision-making.

“I will work to uphold integrity, ensure accountability and transparency in our town government so every resident of Smithfield feels heard and represented,” she said.
