CUMBERLAND – Due to a manufacturing delay, the town has announced an updated schedule for the rollout of new 95-gallon recycling bins.
Distribution of the new recycling totes will now begin on Wednesday, May 20.
Town staffers are thanking residents for their patience and cooperation through the transition. Residents are encouraged to first determine whether they are part of the Town’s “A week” or “B week” recycling schedule. A complete listing of addresses and their assigned week designation is available at www.cumberlandri.gov/recyclingweeks. Residents can search the PDF document using Ctrl + F (Windows) or Command + F (Mac) to locate their address.

Updated recycling bin delivery schedule
Week 1 — “A week” residents
• Wednesday, May 20 — “A week” residents with normal Wednesday pickup
• Thursday, May 21 — “A week” residents with normal Thursday pickup
• Friday, May 22 — “A Week” residents with normal Friday pickup
Memorial Day week notice
There will be no trash or recycling pickup on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. Collection services for the entire week will operate on a one-day delay schedule.
Week 2 — “B week” residents
• Tuesday, May 26 — “B week” residents with normal Monday pickup
• Wednesday, May 27 — “B week” residents with normal Tuesday pickup
• Thursday, May 28 — “B week” residents with normal Wednesday pickup
• Friday, May 29 — “B week” residents with normal Thursday pickup
• Saturday, May 30 — “B week” residents with normal Friday pickup
Final “A week” delivery days
• Monday, June 1 — “A week” residents with normal Monday pickup

Important reminder
The delivery of the new recycling bins does not mean that bi-weekly recycling collection will begin immediately. The town’s new every-other-week recycling schedule will officially begin during the week of June 29.
Frequently asked questions
Will my collection day change?
No. Residents will continue to receive collection services on their current scheduled pickup day.
What happens if I currently use two recycling bins?
Residents with two recycling bins will receive one new larger tote but may continue using both bins.
How will multi-family properties be handled?
Multi-family properties will receive a one-for-one exchange of bins.
Do I need to return my old recycling bin?
No. Residents are not required to turn in their old recycling bins. However, if you keep your old bin, it will be your responsibility to find a way to dispose of it if you decide to get rid of it at some point.
