Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative hosts ‘Golden Age of Hollywood’ fundraiser

WOONSOCKET – On May 2, the Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative held its annual Death on the Red Carpet with the assistance of the Museum of Work and Culture on South Main Street.

According to Paul Alan White, the theme this year was the Golden Age of Hollywood with  appearances by Marlon Brando, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Becall, Katharine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, Sidney Poitier, and Clark Gable.

More than 75 people attended, taking part in a buffet provided by The Pomodoro Restaurant and pizza from Ollie’s Restaurant. Ciro’s provided the bar service.

Shortly after dinner it was reported that Frank Sinatra had been killed and the hunt was on. After a one-hour search, 21 people guessed the right killer to be Marlon Brando.

“Everyone had a spectacular time and we are all looking forward to next year as well as Twilight on the Blackstone fundraiser to be held later this summer,” said White. “Don’t forget the Battle of the Bands being held at Millrace Kitchen to determine a band for opening a Levitt Amp Concert.”

The DWC is a non-profit organization of board members and volunteers dedicated to improving and promoting downtown Woonsocket.
