NORTH PROVIDENCE – Lorraine Moschella has announced her candidacy for the North Providence School Committee at-large seat representing the entire town.

A lifelong resident of North Providence, Moschella is running as a Democrat. She said it would be an honor to serve in the position if elected.

“My connection to this community and its schools runs deep. I attended the North Providence school system from my elementary years through high school, and it was here, inspired by dedicated and extraordinary teachers, that I first discovered my passion for education,” she said in a release. “That inspiration shaped the course of my entire career.”

Added Moschella, “With more than 50 years of experience in this district, first as a student, then as an educator and administrator, I offer a perspective that is both deeply rooted and broadly informed. I understand this community, I believe in its schools, and I am committed to ensuring that every child in North Providence receives the high-quality education they deserve.

Moschella began as a special educator and administrator in the city of Providence before returning to her home community of North Providence. She served as principal of Ricci Middle School, the school she attended as a student.

She also served as principal of McGuire Elementary School. After retiring in 2009, she said she was called back to serve again, co-principaling at both McGuire School and Greystone School from 2022 until today.

“Throughout my career, I have been guided by a commitment to integrity, dedication, and collaboration. These are not just professional values; they are personal ones, and I intend to bring them fully to my role as School Committee member,” she said.

“The North Providence School District’s mission to provide rigorous, personalized instruction that fosters academic and social growth resonates with everything I have worked toward throughout my career,” she added. “Its vision of preparing students to be responsible, capable contributors in a 21st-century world is one I wholeheartedly share. I look forward to working alongside my fellow School Committee members and school district administrators to uphold and advance that vision, help build a culture of trust, high expectations, and genuine collaboration for the benefit of every student in our district.”
