BURRILLVILLE – The final score on the field wasn’t what the crowd wanted, but everything else about Friday Night Lights at the new Thomas E. Gledhill Memorial Field was a win, said those in attendance.
Bronco spirit was high for both Homecoming and pinking out for breast cancer awareness. In a battle of top teams and offenses, East Providence defeated the host team 14-7 in a defensive battle.

The Broncos had won their home opener on the field by a score of 43-19 over West Warwick.
Friday’s festivities featured a dedication of the sign naming the field and honoring the late Thomas Gledhill. It was donated by the Classes of 1976 and 1977, and had been unveiled at a ceremony on Aug. 26.

Gledhill was a dedicated Burrillville teacher and soccer coach. He is credited with building the school’s soccer program and leaving a lasting legacy for generations of student-athletes.
Back in late August, Cyndie Bernard thanked everyone who contributed to the project.

“Mr. Gledhill was a great father, teacher & Soccer coach and the town of Burrillville owes him a debt of gratitude for building the soccer program that we all can be proud of,” she said.
