PAWTUCKET – City Council candidate Tyler McFeeters is calling on the Pawtucket School Committee to immediately approve the long-planned replacement of the roof at Curtis Elementary School.

“There is no greater obligation for a community than protecting its children,” he said. “The fact that students are learning in a building that urgently needs a new roof reflects a serious failure by the School Committee. The studies have been completed, the proposed school realignment is not imminent, and the Fallon Elementary School roof replacement has already been approved. It is time for the children at Curtis School to receive what they deserve: a safe, dry school that supports their educational needs.”

McFeeters, a Curtis parent, urged residents to attend the next scheduled School Committee meeting on Tuesday, June 9, at 5:45 p.m. at Jenks Junior High School on Division Street, and to join him in calling on the school board to give Curtis students the safe learning environment they deserve.

“As I have walked District 1 over the past several weeks, this has been the number one issue on people’s minds,” he said. “It has also been on my mind for the past two years as I have fought for the students of Curtis School to get what they richly deserve. I invite everyone in our community to join me in standing up for our children.”
