PAWTUCKET – Members of The Fraternal Order of Police – Pawtucket Lodge #4, which represents the officers of the Pawtucket Police Department, have announced that they are backing the incumbent mayor for re-election.
“Mayor Grebien has been a supporter of law enforcement in the city of Pawtucket as mayor and is committed to public safety in the community,” said Local #4 President Michael Cioe in a release from the campaign. “Throughout his tenure as mayor, Mayor Grebien has ensured police officers are equipped with the necessary tools to perform their duties. He has also approved the creation of new units and procurement of modern technology, both of which are crucial in today’s law enforcement environment.”
Members of Lodge #4 said they look forward to continuing to work with Mayor Grebien to find innovative ways to best serve their officers and the citizens of Pawtucket.
“I am grateful to Pawtucket’s police union for its faith in me to continue delivering on public safety,” said Grebien. “We will continue taking the right steps both for our standout officers and our wonderful citizens. Playing politics with public safety can have dangerous consequences, and under my leadership, we will have none of it. This city will continue to be a place where strong policing and common sense prevail.”
Grebien also recently received the endorsement of the Democratic City Committee, the RI Building & Construction Trades Council, and the Professional and Technical Employees Local 3960. His opponent, Adam Greenman, received the endorsement of the city’s firefighters.
