WOONSOCKET – Reef Wellness has held a grand opening celebration of its new city store at the Diamond Hill Plaza, 1950 Diamond Hill Road.

The cannabis store, found online at www.reefwellness.com, is located in a renovated standalone building previously occupied by Milford Federal Savings Bank before it moved next door. Fencing, security, and other requirements for such a store were installed in the months leading up to the opening on Sunday, May 31. The event had been planned for Saturday, but wind and heavy rain pushed it back a day.

The store adds more life to a business district hit hard by the previous departure of Walmart and Lowe’s for Dowling Village just over the line in North Smithfield. Since then, a parade of businesses have closed, while fewer have opened in the Diamond Hill Plaza and neighboring Walnut Hill Plaza.

Garrett Mancieri, a real estate professional and active participant on local boards, noted that this significant investment in the Diamond Hill Road area will yield more customers and commerce to the East Woonsocket business hub. He said he’s looking forward to more businesses moving in soon, including a supermarket and car wash.

Sunday’s opening, running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., featured vendors, cultivators, food, and giveaways.

The store is using its drive-thru for pre-orders only, lane one for cash and debit and lane two for cash only.
