PROVIDENCE – More than 100 members of Scotland’s renowned Tartan Army descended on Hasbro Children’s on Thursday, June 18, to present a $10,000 donation.

The gift was raised as part of their charitable efforts surrounding their stay in Providence during the FIFA World Cup. It is the most money the Tartan Army has donated yet. All told, the group has made gifts during 112 trips to cheer on their football team around the world.

Thursday’s event was held in the garden, celebrating the group’s connection with the local community “with a festive display of Scottish pride and generosity.”

The Tartan Army selected Hasbro Children’s as a beneficiary of its fundraising efforts after a recommendation by the Providence Police Department, which worked with the group for months in preparation for their stay.
