NORTH PROVIDENCE – The North Providence Village Festival returns this weekend, Sept. 11-13 on Smith Street in Centredale. Come for music, food, games, and festivities.
According to Mayor Charles Lombardi, a 9/11 remembrance ceremony will be held tonight, Sept. 11, “to honor the memory of the innocent lives lost and pay tribute to the heroic first responders who demonstrated extraordinary courage on that fateful day.” That will happen at the flag outside Town Hall, 2000 Smith St.
On the entertainment schedule for the weekend, Brass Attack will play Friday night, Sept. 11, from 7 to 10 p.m., and Steve Smith & the Nakeds will play Saturday, Sept. 12, also 7 to 10 p.m.
On Friday and Saturday, DJ Eddie the Fixer will also play, and 2nd To None will play Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. and Jackie and Rick Duo from 3 to 6 p.m.
Organizer and Town Councilor Steve DiLorenzo said they have 52 vendors and food vendors this year, including BBQ and Spanish food trucks and ice cream. The weather looks great for Friday and Saturday, he said, but they’re watching rain for Sunday.
Get ready to dance to live entertainment, say organizers. There will be a kids’ zone with inflatables, they add, as well as food, arts, craft, and retail offerings.
The event runs 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. There will be free shuttle to and from the festival from the North Providence Mancini Center.
