PAWTUCKET – District 1 City Councilor David Moran has announced his candidacy for re-election.

“I am proud and humbled to currently represent the district, and look forward to meeting the residents during the campaign to garner their support for the next two years,” said Moran, who is being challenged by Tyler McFeeters.

The Revere Street resident said he has always had a passion for Pawtucket, is proud of what has been accomplished, and is excited to be a part of what lies ahead.

“Pawtucket is a diamond in the rough, has so much potential, and is just starting to show off its true colors,” he said in a release.

He points to the completed commuter rail station and Tidewater Landing project with new soccer stadium, as well as investments in educational facility upgrades with renovations to Potter-Burns and Nathanael Greene Elementary Schools, rebuilding of Winters and Baldwin Elementary Schools, and pending construction of the new Pawtucket High School.

“Pawtucket is now on the map for people to actually stop and visit, as opposed to being a drive-by to Providence,” he said. “I truly believe you need an experienced councilor more than ever in these trying times.”

Being a lifelong District 1 resident for 64 years supports that idea, rather than “my opponent who in his candidacy announcement falsely claimed he has lived in District 1 for 16 years, when in reality it has only been five years.”

“I will deliver for District 1 with integrity and fortitude, and respectfully ask the voters of District 1 for their consideration and support in this next election,” he said.

Moran is married to the former Lynn L’Heureux and they have two adult children, Janelle and Harrison. He has been employed by Nationwide Insurance Company as a casualty claims representative for the past 31 years.
