NORTH SMITHFIELD – Representatives from Diggers Landscaping say Woonsocket Hill Road will be closed on Wednesday, June 24, to install a new temporary bypass pipe.
A new culvert has been ordered and the engineering design/calculations will be submitted to the town engineering company for review and approval.
The estimate time for the culvert to be in place is seven weeks, and planned erosion control has been installed upstream and downstream.
On June 24, Diggers will have a crew on site to install the twin 24-inch temporary bypass pipes.
Wrights Farm Dairy has been notified of the one-day closure, and there will be detour signs in place.
This Thursday, June 25, they will have crews continuing to work on the bypass pipes and the cofferdams.
“We do not anticipate shutting down the road as the crews will be able to work off the edge,” states an announcement. “We will have a flagger for traffic as we move materials around the work area.”
-Cofferdams, following the details on the plans, will be installed, and work may go into Friday
“The installation of the cofferdams at this time will allow the culvert to start to dry out which will make the replacement ‘easier’ to complete,” states the announcement.
