PAWTUCKET – City Councilor At-Large Roberto Moreno has announced his campaign for re-election, seeking a third term serving the residents of the city.
A lifelong Pawtucket resident, Moreno first entered public service in 2018 when he was elected to the Pawtucket School Committee. After serving two terms, including as vice chairperson, he was elected to the council, where he has represented residents across all six districts as an at-large councilor.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the city that has given so much to me and my family,” Moreno said in a release. “As I seek re-election, I remain committed to protecting taxpayers, providing strong checks and balances in city government, and ensuring that Pawtucket’s future remains bright for generations to come.”
Moreno said his parents built their lives in Pawtucket nearly four decades ago, raising their family in the city and instilling in him the values of hard work, accountability, and service to others. Moreno and his wife, Katie, are homeowners on First Street and remain deeply invested in the future of the community they call home.
Throughout his service on both the school board and council, Moreno says he has built a reputation for fiscal oversight, accessibility, and constituent service. He says he’s worked closely with residents and business owners to address neighborhood concerns, quality-of-life issues, zoning matters, public safety concerns, and economic development initiatives.
Moreno says his campaign will focus on the same principles that have guided his public service since first taking office: responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, transparency in government, neighborhood stability, public safety, and continued economic growth.
“I believe the City Council’s most important responsibility is serving as a check and balance on behalf of Pawtucket taxpayers,” he said. “My approach has always been to put Pawtucket first, focus on practical solutions, and make decisions based on what is best for our city rather than political trends or ideology.”
During his tenure, Moreno has served on numerous council committees and has advocated for responsible development, fiscal accountability, and long-term planning. He says he’s consistently emphasized the importance of ensuring that major projects deliver tangible benefits to residents while protecting taxpayers from unnecessary risk.
“As our city continues to grow and evolve, we need experienced leadership that understands both the opportunities and challenges ahead,” he added. “I’m proud of what we have accomplished together, but there is still important work to do.”
Moreno expressed gratitude to neighbors who have supported him throughout his public service journey.
“I am thankful for the trust that the people of Pawtucket have placed in me over the years,” he said. “I look forward to continuing to earn that trust and working every day to keep Pawtucket moving forward.”
Professionally, Moreno serves as a senior property manager overseeing affordable housing communities in Providence and Woonsocket, where he is responsible for budget oversight, financial management, capital planning, and ensuring residents have access to safe, stable housing.
