Representatives from Clean Water Action say they’re excited to announce their first round of candidate endorsements for both the House and Senate in Rhode Island. The candidates endorsed have demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental priorities during a critical period, states a release.
“Earlier this year, we faced the Governor’s attempt to roll back The Act on Climate, a bill previously championed by former Sen. Dominick Ruggerio. We appreciate Senators Lawson and DiMario for their efforts in standing with us to prevent further rollbacks, as well as Representatives Carson and Cortvriend for their key contributions this year. This was a building year for Clean Water Action; we collaborated with both the House and Senate on vital public health issues and will continue our efforts next year. We are deeply grateful for our legislative champions, and their dedication is essential to our success,” stated Emily Howe, CWA State Director.
CWA and its partners have also been actively fighting against PFAS in consumer goods, particularly in cookware, with the support of Sen. Kallman and Rep. Speakman, said CWA in the release. CWA has advocated for recycling reform and made significant strides thanks to the ongoing support of Rep. Spears and Sen. McKenney, they added.
Another major focus this year was the elimination of heavy metal toxins from hygiene care products, a cause successfully led by Sen. Urso in the Senate and Rep. Karen Alzate, they added.
