PAWTUCKET – City Council candidate Tyler McFeeters is calling on the Pinecrest community to celebrate what he’s calling a victory for Curtis Elementary School.
“On Friday, Aug. 21, Mayor Donald Grebien posted a campaign video in front of the elementary school stating definitively that ‘Curtis will not be closing,'” he said.
“This is what the power of people can do. A year ago when the talk of closing Curtis began, we mobilized. The PTO joined the redistricting committee, we wrote emails, we organized, and this community deserves a victory lap” McFeeters added.
The work is not done yet, McFeeters said.
“We’re still due a roof,” he said. “The school roof replacement has already been approved. It is time for the children at Curtis School to receive what they deserve: a safe, dry school that supports their educational needs.”
Said McFeeters, “As Mayor Grebien said, community schools are the fabric of our community. If the voters of District 1 put their faith in me to be their representative on the City Council, they can be assured that I will stand by our schools and work to ensure that all of our community schools receive the resources they deserve.”
