WOONSOCKET – Jennifer Beckford is building on her passion for event planning through Elegant Events RI by opening a physical space for special occasions.
Beckford told The Local Insider she will hold a grand opening for the Elegant Events Banquet Hall this Saturday, July 18, from 2 to 9 p.m. at 2168 Diamond Hill Road, Suites 1-2.
This is the former location of The Gym LLC, in the same plaza and across the parking lot from the Social Security Administration offices and the Woonsocket location of the Rhode Island Blood Center. It’s an area seemingly on the rise again, with a new car wash being constructed nearby and a new cannabis dispensary recently opening.
Beckford, an Attleboro resident whose family all lives in the immediate area of Woonsocket, was born and raised in Providence. She said she’s excited to be here, and grateful to the city for welcoming her and her business.
“My passion for decorating led me to wanting me to want to open an event space,” she said, adding that she’s been thinking about this for years and that it’s been in the works for about the last year.
She said this is a unique building and space and great for her needs.
“I love the location a lot,” she said, adding that while it’s one big space now, it will eventually have a smaller room to accommodate smaller occasions. She said the hall is available for weddings, showers, birthday parties, or any other types of occasions people want it for.
One offering that will make them stand out is her expertise in decor and the things that make parties fun, said Beckford, as they’ll have all of those options available on site if desired. Those decor packages can be reviewed when booking the venue.
“It comes with a lot,” she said, including “props and fun things,” options for a cash bar, smaller event catering, coordination, and core services.
She said a lot of renovation work has been completed, including painting, floors, new chandeliers, and a commercial kitchen for licensed caterers.
Beckford said capacity is about 350, and part of what attracted her here is the extensive parking available. Many of the businesses in the plaza, which has several new tenants, do most of their business during the daytime hours, she said, and not on evenings or weekends as they do.
