WOONSOCKET – Autumnfest is back with a bigger and better lineup of performances and activities at World War II Memorial Park than ever, say organizers, kicking off Friday evening, Oct. 10.
Though some rain is expected, they say, the timing of the bulk of it overnight Sunday could be fortuitous.
General Chairperson Lee Forcier said they want people at opening ceremonies to see them honor Paul Jacob and find out what the two surprises are that they have in store for everyone.
Saturday night they have their Bruno Mars tribute band Uptown Funk performing at 8 p.m., with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
“We have lots of free things to do with the kiddos at our family fun tent including a passport game, pumpkin painting and a community mural to paint,” she said. “You can also paint a Tesla truck. We have 10 free shows for Wheels of Steel motorcycle stunt show happening as well.”
Sunday they have the Better Men Pearl Jam tribute at 8:30 p.m., but also encourage people to check out Straight Outta Rehab at 5:30 p.m.
We have meet-and-greets with Autumn Mae, the mascot throughout the weekend.
“And Monday we plan on our parade after the overnight rain happening on Sunday night,” she said.
The 2-mile parade route begins on Diamond Hill Road at 9:30 a.m. and runs toward Social Street. The procession will turn left onto Social Street and will end at the Woonsocket Post Office.
Grand Marshal Garrett Mancieri headlines the parade, featuring 19 marching bands, 10 floats, various organizations, and numerous other participants.
“I love to see the festival grow each year,” said Mancieri. “More food, more vendors, more rides, bigger harvest garden area for drinks, fun harvest garden backyard, and a packed Main Stage act! Today come down for opening ceremonies at noon for a special giveaway for 48 lucky people to get food coupons. Also today, corn hole at 12 noon, Lacey Cheryl, Bruno Mars tribute, and fireworks at 9:30pm!”
