PAWTUCKET – Following complaints from residents in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the west side of the city, the city has issued more than a dozen citations to property owners.

Members of Mayor Donald Grebien’s administration said they appreciate residents bringing any and all issues relating to litter, unsafe sidewalks, rodents, and other matters, and they will continue to respond appropriately.

Following inspections of the Woodlawn area last week, the following properties were identified as having environmental and/or property maintenance violations and will be receiving citations from code enforcement:

North Providence Memorial Day Events

• 16 Barnes St.

• 137 Newell Ave. (trash/junk on sidewalk)

• 158 Newell Ave.

United Way 211

• 31 Utton Ave. (junk on sidewalk/grass overgrown)

• 23 Utton Ave.

• 72 Lonsdale Ave.

Inspectors will continue monitoring the area and enforcing the rules, according to Grebien.

“Residents’ quality of life matters,” he said in a statement. “A clean city is a safe city. As summer approaches, we all have a role to play in keeping our neighborhoods clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.”

The city’s Zoning and Code Enforcement Department needs the public’s help, he added.

“If you see overgrown lots, illegal dumping, excessive trash, abandoned vehicles, or property maintenance concerns, please report them so we can address them promptly,” he said. “Working together, we can continue to improve the quality of life in every neighborhood across our city.”
