CUMBERLAND – On a cool Wednesday afternoon in October, there are few people inside Diamond Hill Park. A woman throws rocks with her grandchild, a couple gets in some brisk cardio, a family collects pine cones for some type of project. To John Pellizzari, the size of his audience doesn’t matter.

As long as it’s warm enough to be out here, Pellizzari, of Woonsocket, is here to fill the park with trumpet music. The stage over the pond remains one of his favorite places to play, he said, and he loves the acoustics allowing the sound to carry out over the water and across the park for all to hear.

Pellizzari said he’s here almost every day, typically in the middle part of the day, and once in a while, during the evening.

Practicing law with the Law Offices John F. Pellizzari on Denby Street in Woonsocket, Pellizzari sees music, or as he describes it, a wordless language, as a tremendous benefit for everyone.

He does it to move people, he said, whether here in Cumberland, down in Newport, or elsewhere in the state. The smiles and stories from spectators about the memories the music brings back make it all the more worthwhile, he says.
