The Local Insider is a new hyperlocal digital news outlet in Rhode Island, focused primarily in the northern part of the Ocean State. Our slogan is “news for where you live.”
I believe that too much of our news ecosystem is being taken over by corporate and political interests, and that independent sources run by people in our communities are critically important to our shared future.
I have two decades of experience gathering and producing local news that people want to engage with. Working with a team, we made people aware of thousands of stories they wouldn’t have otherwise known about.
These are the types of stories we’re going to continue to tell at The Local Insider, with a strong focus on the human element and the stories that connect us. Reader comments will not be featured on this site, but thoughtful letters of any length on issues of importance to you will be published.
Journalism costs money, and those who produce it should be paid an amount equal to the effort and stress involved in it.
