PAWTUCKET – This paving season, said Mayor Donald Grebien in a campaign release, Pawtucket is surpassing 80 percent of all local roadways redone since he took office.

Nearly 25 more roads are being repaved in 2026, said the mayor.

“The unprecedented progress to fix crumbling infrastructure doesn’t happen by accident, and it took creating a coordinated plan, based on expert analysis that removed the politics out of what the city was doing,” he said. “Some didn’t like the plan at first, but have come to see that getting roads done based on actual conditions instead of who you know is the fair approach.”

Added Grebien, “Residents in every city deserve leadership that cares about getting the basics right. Infrastructure that allows you to drive with peace of mind and without damaging your vehicle is something every community should achieve if it’s being run well, but it doesn’t happen in many communities, and it wasn’t happening before we took office.”

He stated, “City leaders should never grow complacent, which is why I have remained laser-focused on always progressing on roads, schools, and city services. Local governance isn’t about talking points, but about the hard work in the trenches to get it done.”
